I had my dream job – or so I thought …
working for a major designer brand in New York City with free clothing, paid lunch, travel, and expensive dinners at the finest restaurants I was making six figures …
…yet I was miserable.
The days were long, the commute was rough, the money was great but I had no time to enjoy it, there was no job security, and worst of all I didn’t like the industry or the boss I worked for. I wanted to open my own store, actually I wanted to open several stores, but everyone was quick to point out the failure rate of small business – they thought I was nuts!
…but I had a plan
I knew insider secrets from working with the big department stores…I knew numbers. I saw what overwhelmed the small stores I was working with….I knew what NOT to do. From in-store events I talked with hundreds of customers and had a true feel for… I knew what motivated them to buy
I combined my experience with the structured set up of the most successful small businesses, and created a blueprint that I could use to get my store open and running without having to leave my job.
I worked longer and harder than I ever had in my life. Every morning I woke up second guessing my decision, fear would shake my confidence, I didnt want to fail. But I weighed the odds…
Failure versus regret and I knew I had to try because failure wasn’t a guarantee, but regret was
My journey wasn’t easy, it was filled with ups and downs, shifts and challenges all the time. But my industry knowledge, the supportive team I built, and the structure I put in place, allowed me to weather the storms and take advantage of the opportunities that come from change.
The best advice about entrepreneurship is this…change is inevitable, if you really want to skyrocket your business, you need to invest in yourself and continue learning.
With a new life change, I retired from brick & mortar and had the time & freedom to dive head first into the new changing business landscape. I learned ecommerce, niche marketing, manufacturing and social media. I got a degree in digital publishing, and worked with the top coaches in product development, Facebook advertising, visual, video and online marketing.
Now I Serve in a Much Bigger Way
